My Most Favorite Albums (Top 10)

I was nominated by Nafis Salehin for choosing my top albums. It really is difficult to choose only 10 albums when you've listened to so many different kinds of albums from different genres and artists. However, I have been predominantly a rock and metal music listener, so most of my choices will lean towards those genres. Also, I've avoided "best of" and "Live" albums, because they contain mixtures of songs taken from individual albums.

1. Rubber Soul - The Beatles

Hands on, this is one of the best albums I've ever listened to, or will ever listen. All the songs are great, and it was written when all four Beatles had the best of relationships and coherence as a band.

2. Blackout - Scorpions

This was the album that introduced me to hard rock, which is till date my most favorite genre. I can't remember how many times I've listened to the first few songs. Over the years, my taste shifted a lot, but I never got tired of listening to the intro lead solo in "Blackout"

3. AArt - Acoustic Alchemy

Absolutely love this instrumental album, and I love all their albums as well. Very, very nice, soothing music that can pacify me whenever I listen to them.

4. Youthanasia - Megadeth

Although Metallica was the first metal band I started liking, Megadeth soon overtook them. After so many years, I've grown a bit bored with Metallica, but this album still sounds fresh, and I love all the songs in there. "Killing Road" was the first metal song I tried memorizing.

5. Awake - Dream Theater

Dream Theater is a great band. They have been consistently releasing record after record and getting noticed even in the era of biebers and minaj's. But nothing beats their old classics and I had to fight hard to choose one, great album among Awake, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Images and Words, Metropolis II and Falling In to Infinity.

6. Deuces Wild - B.B. King

I've always admired blues as a genre, but I can't say I am an expert or a very informed listener. But I love this album more than many other rock albums. In this album, B.B. collaborated with a number of musicians and re-recorded some of his own as well as some well known blues classics. It's a lovingly crafted, modern sounding classic blues album!

7. Led Zeppelin IV - Led Zeppelin

If you're a rock music fan and you don't/can't like this album, you are not a true rock music fan. Enough said. 

8. L A Woman - The Doors

Most of the top hits from The Door's catalog comes from their first album, but in their final album with Jim Morrison, we hear a somewhat morbid and mature sound which was unlike any previous albums. This album could have been my favorite for only "Riders on The Storm", but each and every song is great, and they grow on to you. Even the seemingly annoying "Changeling".

9. Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

I tell this quite often--I didn't really understand Pink Floy'd music until I grew up. When I first heard their songs during my schooling years, I found the sound cryptic and somewhat inaccessible. The words didn't mean much to me, and the long, instrumental interludes didn't help much, either.

But when I grew up and gave them another try, they absolutely blew me away, and the epic dedication to Syd Berret became one of my all time favorite albums. Shine on, you crazy Diamond!

10. On Every Street - Dire Straits

Once again, this is not their best album, but it is my favorite only because of the last 2/3 minutes of the song "On Every Street". 

"And it's your face I'm looking for....on every street", the sad, melancholy song turns in to a gloriously uplifting beat. There's nothing like Mark's solos.
